This song takes us back when Americans sat in front of televisions waiting for Roy and Dale to ride into their living rooms on their faithful horses, Trigger and Buttermilk. We would all ride with them as they chased the bad guys then, we would go outside and make believe we were Roy Rogers. He instilled in many of us the love for the wholesome cowboy life. At the close of every show Roy and Dale would sing “Happy Trails to You, Until We Meet Again.” They now ride golden trails in heaven where there are no outlaws. “One day I plan on riding with them,” says Tom Lanza. “I believe one of the reasons why I am involved in the ranching industry today is because of those childhood dreams. I go outside each morning and watch my horses frolic in the pastures, and relive those wonderful days. When I heard this song “Roy Rogers Was King,” written by James Payne, I knew I had to record it and make it available as a loving tribute to one of my childhood heroes.
